Good morning and welcome to yet another service with a difference. We’re hoping to hear back shortly from our landlord (Methodist Church), as to whether we can return in person. Until then, it’s the online weekly post.
Today’s scripture for consideration comes from 1Thessalonians 5:17. The lead image is from the Amplified version. In The Message it reads ‘Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.’
Christian music covers many genres. Although heavy rock is often associated (and with good reason) with negativity as far as Christianity is concerned, it’s not the style of music in itself that is wrong.
Here’s Stryper, the well-known Christian band, as they perform, Do Unto Others.
It isn’t about style or appearance but motive and intention. That’s true, of course, for everything, as far as the Christian is concerned.
The following hymn is the opposite of Stryper’s song in every way, if you look at the surface. However, dig deep and there’s a common thread. Is God being glorified in the music? Is it inspiring? Does it draw people to the Lord?
When is the best time to criticise other people? That’s our short (58 seconds) message for today.
Enjoy your week and as soon as we hear back regarding the availability of the building, we’ll let people know.
