The sermon this morning at church was based on Paul’s words in 1Timothy, where he called himself “the chief of all sinners.”
The gist of the message was that we all do wrong; we all fall short of God’s perfect standard. There is a difference though when Christians err but don’t see it as that, in fact wearing their sin as a badge of honour, and those who slip but truly feel sorry for what they have done.
That’s where Johnny Cash came in. Brought up as a Christian he made a profession of faith. He also struggled as well, but was honest about that, and the fact that he was wrong.
Again, to quote the Apostle Paul: “I do the things that I don’t want to but don’t do the things that I should.”
We also listened to The Man Comes Around. The guitar in the lead image belongs to Debby though!
Join us this coming Sunday at 10.30 a.m. It’s a football-themed service and all are welcome. We meet at Binfield Street Chapel, DY4 8LS.
